Domaine Henri Rebourseau

Bourgogne, also called Burgundy, same as Bordeaux, is the soul of French wine. Viticulture in Burgundy can traced back to 2nd century. The region runs from Chablis in the north, then Côte d'Or, to Mâcon in the south. Côte d'Or are the soul of Bourgogne wines, splitting into Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The majority of red wine production in the Côte d'Or is the Pinot noir grape, while white wines are the chardonnay grape.
Bourgogne is terroir-oriented region in France. Opposed to Bordeaux, Bourgogne classifications are geographically-focused. A specific vineyard or region will bear a given classification, regardless of the wine's producer. The main levels in the Bourgogne classifications, in descending order of quality, are: Grand crus, Premier crus, village appellations, and finally regional appellations

About Domaine Henri Rebourseau

Domaine Henri Rebourseau is very different from other Gevrey Chambertin producers, all of their wines have been aged in their cellar for at least 10 to 15 years before release. The domaine also employs traditional cultivation method, combining 100% organic winegrowing with biodynamic practices.

Jean de Surrel, who managed the domaine today, is the great-grandson of General Henri Rebourseau. The general returns to Gevrey after the Great War in 1919 and bought the property. Henri’s son Pierre was winemaker until 1980 when Jean took on the role.

Domaine Henri Rebourseau comprises vineyard stretching from the villages of Gevrey Chambertin to Vougeot, cultivating some of the oldest plots upon the Côte de Nuits. They preserve the expression of each terroir through the long aging of its wines. This exceptional heritage has been safeguarded and passed down through eight generations of the same family.
